Reev moved to Winston-Salem from Charlotte after a massive stroke in 2023. With decades of experience as a hairstylist, he was previously relocated to Portland, OR, where he served as a salon general manager and coordinator. He was promoted to district manager, overseeing 25 salons across AL, MS, and LA, with his home base in New Orleans. A two-time salon owner, most recently in Charlotte, Reev's competitive and creative hairstyling has earned him recognition, including being named hairstylist of the year in both 2022 and 2023. He has also been featured in an editorial in Premier Bride, provided hairstyles for Charlotte Fashion Week, and served as a national hair color educator. In 2023, he was a national finalist for the TV show 'Hairstyle, the talent show' in NYC. Now, in his stroke recovery, Reev humorously refers to himself as a 'zombie hairstylist' due to residual spasticity and tremors, which give him zombie-like movements. He is now preparing for his own 'Zombie Hairpocalyse' in Winston-Salem, stepping back into his role as a hairstylist behind the chair after a two-year sabbatical.
Today, Reev, is dedicated to creating a unique and personalized experience for each person choosing to sit in his chair. He strives to enhance the natural beauty of individuals and uncover their uniqueness. He aims to help people feel confident. Reev also believes that by sharing our experiences, we can inspire others. Everyone has a story. Every story has an impact. Every impact can change another life... (for the better or worse) choose carefully!
Reev is becoming an advocate for stroke victims, particularly for those navigating the challenging journey of stroke recovery on their own, just as he did. As a healthcare reform activist, he is dedicated to transforming the simplistic terms and convenient definitions currently used in post-stroke assessments to enhance the standard of accessibility and support in post-stroke recovery. There is a significant need for education among both medical professionals and governmental agencies regarding cognitive dysfunction awareness and testing.
Additionally, Reev is launching reev5000.org with intent to utilize the U.S. beauty market to bridge the gap between current programs and actual accessibility for people with mental and physical disabilities facing food insecurities and homelessness. Below are some local links if you are in need.
